Tristan Thil est né en 1982.
Après des études en histoire et aux Beaux-Arts, Tristan Thil réalise son premier film documentaire, Florange, dernier carré en 2012. Il poursuit aujourd’hui son travail d’écriture documentaire, explorant les champs de la fiction, de l’animation, et du scénario de bande dessinée.
